In order for all those peers to know how to put all the pieces back in the right order and use the content, BitTorrent clients requires a special reference file called a Torrent. A Torrent is a small file which can be shared on net, using a torrent file u can download anything that is available on various torrent sites.
The torrent is what you download from the site and load into µTorrent(explained later). All the peers and seeds involved in the distribution of any given file have the matching torrent loaded into their client. In order to share your own content over the BitTorrent network you need to create a torrent for this content.
A torrent is basically a P2P(Peer to Peer) sharing. The basic idea behind a torrent is that the required file (the file to be downloaded) is possesed by a number of people in parts(leechers) or full(seeders) and they all share the owned part with each other so that complete file is possesed by all the people.
A torrent file has a ext like .torrent and is of few kb in size.
To download files using torrents u need a torrent client like Utorrent or Azureus ,most users favors Utorrent because of its simple interface.it can be downloaded from http://www.utorrent.com/downloads.
Now before we start to download we should know about some terms:
1. seeds: These are the users who have completed their download and now uploading for others.
2. peers: These are still downloading and sharing with others.
3. Tracker: A server that assists in communication between peers.
Now to start with follow steps:
1. Install utorrent, in its settings set the directory for files downloaded through torrent to any location on your drive.
2.open a torrent site ex: http://www.mininova.org/
3.search for the file(video,song,movie,game etc) you want ,the search will show u a number of torrents.
4.For example below pic show a search result for movie X-men origin:
5.Go for the torrent with largest number of seeds ,they are indicated in columns on right side in this site(may differ from site to site), before downloading the torrent look for the comments given by other users as they are helpful in determining the best torrent for file download.
6.Now click on the selected torrent , u can either download it (select the option save on disk in pop up window which appers after u click the torrent)or can directly open through utorrent(select open with and then select utorrent from the option list).
[The torrent downloaded on the disk can be now open with the utorrent and your download will start, if u r connected to net]
The utorrent window look like as shown in pic below showing the amount of file being downloaded and other information which u can get yourself by exploring a bit.....
You can control the download and upload limit by selecting the desired speed as mentioned in the extreme bottom of the utorrent window.(just right click on the speed being shown ).
